The Best Claude Skills for SEO Content Teams (Free, Drop-In, No Signup)

Stop rewriting the same brief every session. These 12 Claude Skills turn every chat in your project into a fully automated content workflow.

The Problem Every SEO Content Team Knows Too Well

You start up Claude. You copy and paste your target keywords, the tone guidelines you have created, the humanization instructions you’ve made, and your keyword preservation rules again, for the third time this week.

Claude is very effective; however, from its initial release there was no way for Claude to retain memory of the workflow of your team. Each chat with Claude is essentially a clean slate. As such, your writers, editors, and strategists are having to spend actual time explaining background information which should already exist as part of their workflow.

Claude Skills solve this problem. A skill is a markdown file that you create once (you simply place it within your Claude project’s instructions) and after doing so, Claude will know about your team’s workflow and drafting processes, when to humanize, how to preserve keywords, and what “done” looks like to your team on all chats in that project.

In addition to this, the Walter Skills repository on GitHub now contains 12 free, open-source skills built specifically for SEO content teams. Below you can see what each skill does, who they’re intended for, and why you’ll want them.

What Is a Claude Skill, Exactly?

Before you start: a Claude skill is just a markdown file loaded into your project’s instructions. The skills define default settings for each conversation in the project and automate the tasks that get performed in each one, identify potential edge cases, specify the output format, and decide when to use an outside tool.

The Walter Skills are built around a specific stack of tools: Claude for creating drafts, and Walter MCP for detecting AI content, preserving keywords, and producing humanized versions of the draft. Walter MCP is the bridge: it gives Claude the actual ability to produce humanized versions of the draft and run detection tests. So if there is no Walter MCP available, then even though the workflow instructions may tell Claude what steps to take next, Claude cannot execute the humanization steps.

Install a Skill in four steps:

  1. Open your Claude project (or create one)
  2. Go to Project Instructions
  3. Copy the full SKILL.md from the repo into your instructions
  4. Install Walter MCP so Claude can call Walter’s tools

Once that’s in place, every chat in the project runs your full content workflow automatically.

The 12 Walter Skills, Explained

SK-01: SEO Content Writer

Best for: Any person using Claude for regular production of SEO content.

This is the foundational Skill. It lets you set up a template for drafting SEO-optimized content using your keywords, have Claude automatically use Walter to humanize that content, and run an AI detection test before delivering the final version. The days are over where you need to “paste into humanizer,” “check detection score,” and “copy back,” since this is now one flow.

The Skill also defines different levels of humanization based on content type (Light, Balanced, Aggressive), so Claude can work out which mode to use for each one.

SK-02: Agency QC Pipeline

Best for: Managing content written by many different authors for an agency.

Quality control becomes a required step in every chat that uses Claude with this skill. The quality control layer sets a definition of “publishable,” detection threshold scores that trigger a flag, a keyword presence check, and tone consistency, and if something fails those tests it gets flagged before copy leaves the session.

For agencies producing content with teams, the difference is having a quality control layer that exists as an enforceable tool in each workflow, rather than a document everyone can access but nobody reviews.

SK-03: Local SEO Machine

Best for: Local agencies and multi-location businesses.

Local SEO copy has very particular needs (location indicators, service-area language, NAP uniformity, nearby keyword usage). The point of the skill is to encode all of it so Claude creates locally optimized copy without a location-specific brief every time.

This skill is especially helpful for an agency creating content for hundreds of client locations, since it turns what was once a custom prompt into a repeatable process.

SK-04: Content Repurposer

Best for: Content teams seeking to maximize ROI from every piece of content.

This skill can take a single piece (a blog post, a case study, and so on) and generate all the other formats you need (social media posts, an email newsletter, a summary, a LinkedIn article, and more). Every output is processed by Walter’s humanizer so repurposed content does not carry that artificial robot voice.

One well-written post, many formats, zero extra briefs.

SK-05: E-commerce Product Writer

Best for: Large online stores writing product descriptions at scale.

Writing product descriptions for SEO is arguably the highest-volume, most repetitive type of writing on the internet. This Skill gives Claude a way to write them consistently using a template for structure, benefit-led, with keywords integrated and tone kept consistent across an entire store catalogue. The output also comes across less like it was made by a machine.

This Skill is particularly valuable for larger stores that have too many products to write a unique description for every single item.

SK-06: Newsletter Writer

Best for: Newsletter operators producing weekly content.

Newsletters live or die on tone, so keeping it consistent is what this skill is for. It does that by saving your editorial style, your section structure, and your signature phrases. Claude writes in the same format you do, Walter adds the personalization that makes it sound like you wrote it, and the output reads like someone on your team made it rather than something spat out of a template.

SK-07: Programmatic SEO

Best for: Teams building large volumes of templated pages.

Programmatic SEO is a balancing act: the structure has to stay consistent, but each page needs enough variation to dodge thin-content penalties. This Skill handles that balance for you, setting the template logic, the variation rules, and the humanization approach per page type, so you can scale up without the quality falling off.

SK-08: Brand Voice Adapter

Best for: In-house teams and multiple-client service agencies.

If you write for more than one brand, this is probably one of the most practical skills in the collection. It lets you define each client’s brand voice, tone guidelines, and terminology as profiles that Claude switches into on request. Same workflow, different voice, and no need to rebrief.

SK-09: Content Refresh

Best for: Sites revamping older content to recapture or improve their search rankings.

Updating current content is an entirely different project from creating new content; you want to preserve what works while refreshing the parts that do not. This Skill defines that process for you: which parts to retain, which to revise, how to handle keyword changes, and how to personalize updated segments so they do not disrupt the overall voice of the piece.

SK-10: Lead Magnet Writer

Best for: B2B teams creating gated content (guides, checklists, white papers, and so on).

A lead magnet has to provide real utility, a clear structure, and enough polish that it feels worth downloading. This Skill covers the overall layout, the intro, the value sections, and the call-to-action flow, and makes sure the output is personalized to the same standard as the premium gated content itself.

SK-11: Social Media

Best for: Social teams adapting content for each platform.

Creating platform-specific content is surprisingly fiddly once you factor in all the rules (character counts, how hashtags work on each platform, link handling) and the tone shifts between LinkedIn, X, and Instagram. This skill wraps all of that up so Claude adapts your copy correctly for each platform, while Walter adds the human touch that keeps the post from reading like an obvious product of artificial intelligence.

SK-12: Docs Writer

Best for: Product teams writing help center articles and documentation.

Documentation comes with its own rules: clarity beats cleverness, structure runs step by step, and the terminology stays consistent throughout. This Skill turns Claude into a documentation specialist for your product, and Walter makes sure the result reads as natural and accessible instead of robotic.

Why This Approach Works Better Than Prompting Every Time

A large portion of the value that comes from using Skills instead of prompts is down to scalability with consistent quality. When your entire workflow is contained within a Skill, all members of your team will be creating work at the same level of quality, no matter how much experience they have using Claude or how good they are as a prompt engineer.

When a company uses Claude for content creation, this means a great deal. For example, hire a new writer onto a current project that uses Claude, and they will be able to use the company’s full production workflow as soon as they are hired. The Skill provides the writer with the instruction; the writer takes care of the creative direction.

Walter Skills are also readable and editable markdown files, not black boxes. So if changes are needed to your workflow, you simply edit the Skill files accordingly. And if there are client-specific rules that need to be added, you simply add them. The whole system is yours to modify.
